LA-based artist, writer, composer, and performer, Justin Sky uses his craft to paint the picture of our many realities. sky is the Distinguished first-place emcee of the Dub Magazine Hip Hop Competition, International main-stage performer at Festival Azure (Portugal), and formerly the emcee of la supergroup, The West Coast Get Down. A consummate writer, Sky released his book There's Comfort in The Darkness with Over the Edge Books in October 2016. A meditation on life's most vital questions, There's Comfort in the Darkness was accompanied by visual and musical installments; marrying such themes in expert fashion. having performed with such musical talents as Mickey Factz, Kamasi Washington, Ill Camille, terrace martin, Thundercat, and Watsky, sky has also maintained los angeles and international residencies. he has graced renowned stages such as The Sayers Club, The Viper Room, Grand Performances LA, and The Grammy Museum.
After honing his craft for years, Sky decided it was time to expand his own catalogue. EXPERIMENT 451 began in early 2015, with a collaboration with writer and producer Henry Was. From there, Sky focused on his passion for connecting with people. It was in this passion that Justin was inspired to create a story of connection; one that would resonate through empathy and our human nature. the concept of the album became clear, and Sky began mapping out songs, stories, sounds, and sequence. Cinematic anthems like 451 and Bye Now, along with mesmerizing records such as Experiment Outerlude and Luisa’s Interlude, showcase Sky’s multifaceted approach to telling such a grand story; one of human connectivity and emotion. Soulful, introspective tracks like Human, Frobisher, and Perfect all feature Sky shining brilliantly as a writer, while offering soothing vocal choruses. The album is packed full of energy, with songs like Connected, Nightcrawlers, and Daywalker channeling futuristic sounds
and dynamic production. With musical inspirations including John Williams, Kanye West, Nas, Hans Zimmer and No I.D., Justin Sky breaks new ground on his own album, lush with rich, inventive sounds.
